Finding a Safe Hair Straightener
With the use of hair straighteners becoming so wide spread, that it’s no wonder people everywhere are asking what is the safest flat iron to use on my hair? It’s a good question, with a variety of different answers. This is mainly because there are many different companies that offer many different flat irons, and with so many options claiming to be the best, how are we supposed to know which one actually is the best? By doing our research and knowing what is good and bad for our hair, we can make an informed decision.
When it comes to choosing a hair straightener that is best for you, the first thing you should look at is what kind of plates your hair straightener uses. There are metal plates or there are ceramic plates. These two are extremely different, and the variations between them make the decision of which one is best clearly obvious. When it comes to a straightener that won’t cause as much damage to your hair, ceramic plate hair straighteners are best. Metal plate hair straighteners when placed under a microscope have a more rough and rigged surface causing more overall damage and breakage to the hair. Metal plate hair straighteners are also good at taking the moisture from your hair and leaving it dry. Ceramic plated hair straighteners are best because they not only help to lock in moisture, but their surface is smooth and flat. Think of it like this, the one with the rugged surface (metal plate hair straighteners) will leave your hair with a rugged finish, the one with the smooth and flat surface (ceramic plate hair straighteners) will leave your hair smooth and flat.
Which of the various brands that offer ceramic or gold plated hair straighteners you use is a preference, and entirely up to you. Just keep in mind that the better the hair straightener you want, the more you may be asked to pay for it. This is why ceramic hair straighteners are often so pricey. While less expensive ceramic straighteners are available, these may not last as long and may not use as high of technology to keep your hair safe and smooth for long periods of time. The best advice is to look and ask around to friends and stylists, as well as do research on each straightener that interests you so you know how other people felt about it.
